Now as you know what is the difference between the collector and deputy collector, but the main question is here that if a person already becomes a collector and now he wants to become an IAS officer without waiting for 14 years

So Can a deputy collector give the exam for UPSC well in this world nothing is impossible and here are the advantages and disadvantages of giving the exam of UPSC.

First, let's see what would be disadvantages of giving this exam.

  • Well there is not much but the Civil Services exam of UPSC needs a lot of dedication so if you are already a government job as deputy collector and want to give the exam you will have to manage your time very well so that you can study for hours at least 5-6 hours.
  • Health would be a major issue working for about 6-7 hours in the office and studying for 5-6 hours that may be exhausting for you.
  • Also, a deputy collector has also, need to look after his office work do some inspection and also need to travel for an official purpose which leads to a distraction from studies.

Advantages of giving this exam.

  • The strategy for studying is not an issue for one who has already cleared state service exam and got a second the class job you the aspirants who all are preparing for this exam does not need a strategy because once they did this which makes them once step ahead from the aspirants.
  • Financially if we look many people cannot join the coaching classes because of the money  but if someone is a deputy collector he/she can easily join any online coaching classes for UPSC and learn any time.
  • The exam  pattern of all state service exam is the same as the pattern of UPSC only a few things does not match in the syllabus but half of the syllabus match with all state board pattern so this is the main advantage to a deputy collectors if they attempting this exam.

Should You really Give this exam?

This is the most important question that should a deputy collector give the exam for UPSC when he/she being already in the most prestigious job in the country but you can become an IAS officer when only you score good marks because the competition rate is high in comparison to the state service exam.
